Little Predator

The Gatekeeper is quite an impressive spider in its own right - it is quite possibly the largest Jumping Spider I have ever had the pleasure to see [on a regular basis] - but to see it bring down prey at least its size was really impressive.

I was saddened that neither spider submission in a recent Predator photo contest received attention... instead the typical megafauna predators (hawks, wolves, big cats) received the accolades.  Consider the sheer number of spiders of all species in the world and then the billions... nay... trillions... of prey they catch in a year, it far surpasses the amount of quarry caught by the megafauna.
